Mental health and wellbeing - Micro CPD session for intelligence analysts and researchers in policing

Our October Micro CPD session for intelligence analysts and researchers in policing welcomes Dr Fazeelat Duran from Birmingham University to understand the impact of our role on mental health and wellbeing.
The presentation will cover the impact of workplace exposure to others’ trauma on mental health and wellbeing. Increasing evidence highlights the effects on secondary investigators and analysts in supportive roles, who often remain out of the public eye but are deeply immersed in the details of violent crimes, such as sexual violence, abduction, torture, acts of terrorism , and murder. Our research focuses on understanding how these roles affect their mental health and wellbeing, as well as the coping mechanisms they employ.
Dr Duran is an Assistant Professor at the University of Birmingham and a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. She has extensive experience conducting research with criminal justice staff and first responders to enhance their mental health and wellbeing, focusing on achieving positive real-world outcomes for those involved.
Please do share this invite with policing colleagues who might be interested in attending. For those not currently on the distribution list but who would like to be added, please email vkppprojecttasks@college.police.uk
