Voice of the Child Practice Briefing is published

The VKPP Research and Review team have today published a new practice briefing on Voice of the Child.

It outlines the responsibilities that police have when engaging with children and young people. It includes several strategies and tools to help build personnel confidence, supporting police to engage with children in the most appropriate way and to hear their voice and experience.

It is relevant to all police personnel who encounter children and young people, including call-centre staff, police officer and non-police officer responders.

This briefing has the support of the following National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) leads - DCC Emma Barnett (Victims and Witnesses), DCC Ian Critchley (Child Protection and Abuse Investigation), DCC Maggie Blyth (Violence Against Women and Girls), AC Louisa Rolfe (Violence and Public Protection)  and College of Policing.
